Default whats the diff. between the 2 tire sizes?

245/50-16's are the nittos i am running right now but i am going to buy some BFG d/r's that are 255/60-16's. they should be the same width right? but what about at the track, is there going to be a difference between the 2?

Well, your speedo will be 9.36444580902672% to slow.

Overall, a 255 will be 10mm (5 on each side) wider than the stock size which won't be noticeable but what's noticable is that the 255 will be a much taller tire.

Here are the measurements for each

Stock tire size;
Sidewall - 4.822"
Radius - 12.822"
Diameter - 25.645"
Circumference - 80.568"
Revolutions/Mile - 786.414

255/60-16 size;
Sidewall - 6.023"
Radius - 14.023"
Diameter - 28.047"
Circumference - 88.113"
Revolutions/mile - 719.076

these are just going to be d/r's. i just want to know which will hook better or does the size matter at the track? right now i have nitto 555r's that are 245/50's and the BFG's are 255/60's.

Are you sure that the BFGs are a 60 series tire? I thought the 255x16 DR was a 50 series as well.

If "hooking" is your prime objective, I'd say the 60 series (provided it is a 60) would be better as it will allow the sidewall to "wrinkle" a little more. Comparitively, the lower profile 50 series won't allow as much wrinkle.

Now if they're both a 50 series, I'd go with the 255 as it has a larger contact patch.

where in the world is there a 60 series BFG DR? in fact, the only one that is 16" is the 255/50/16 and they have been discontinued for a while now. where are you finding them?
