Hmmm, I was supposed to get some LS1-EDIT dyno tuning on my '98 Formula this past weekend and MTI had just received the software upgrade for '97-'98 cars. It would not work, it said something about not being familiar with the file type and that we had to email a copy of the PCM download to the code writer to check out.
We also tried it on another '98 Camaro and it didn't work either. This was the latest revision of LS1-EDIT also, version 97.

$550 locked to one PCM
$100 for each additional PCM
So if I get a buddy its $325/PCM
if I get two buddies... its $250/PCM
if I get three buddies... its $212.50/PCM
- I need some buddies....

Ok, I started an LS1 Edit e-mail list. Please see if we can get the tuner shops and anybody else with the software on the list!

Hey Tony,
MTI needs to email Ken about that. He sent a friend of mine a version of LS1_Edit that wouldn't open up a '98 A4 file yesterday - Ken had to send a patch.
The version Ken sent me opens '98 files just fine. No more SES light for me! 6500 rev limit! No more cold idle open loop popping! And as soon as the driveshaft gets here, rescaled for the 4.10's...

I think once Ken has seen all of the varieties of the different calibrations, that will no longer be a problem. Unfortunately with this newer stuff, when GM makes changes to the calibration (updates, improvements, running changes), table locations are jumping around making it difficult for LS1_edit to know how to line stuff up. Hopefully once all of the variations have been seen once, the editor will know what file you have when it "reads" your PCM, and will know how to line everything up.
Does that make sense??

Will ls1 edit do evrything autotap does plus allow you to alter you pcm??? I was just about to buy a-tap but dont wanna just blow my money if ls1edit will allow me to scan every thing plus make chnges to the computer. Prolly a dumb question but some one help me out.TIA
LS1 edit is just that, it allows you to edit the contents of the PCM. You will still want some type of data aquisition software.

The two have different purposes and functions.
The programmer is not a real time scanner tool.
IHMO you still need a solid designed PCM scanner/ monitor that not only does OBD-II but also the enhanced G.M DTCs.
I suggest the Ease G.M enhanced powertain scanner, much better designed scanner tool that works well within MS Windows and not only saves a recorded trace but also saves a report as to any stored DTCs, freeze frames, I/M status, and 02 status.

They have a newsgroup / mailing list set up for LS1edit just like they have for LT1edit.
goto:http://www.ls1edit.com and sign up there- these are the guys who created the program and everyone would/will benifit from talking to/with the guys who create the software.

As far as ordering it, you can pay by PayPal, but you must send/e-mail the oprder form in to get the order completed. So, just make sure you fill the form out right!

Tony, there are many builds that GM uses on these ECUs. If it's a known build, LS1-edit will recognize it and let you edit, but if it's an unknown build it doesn't let you edit it in order to avoid damage to the ECU. If you encounter such a file, send it to the carputing guys and they will make the necessary changes so it can be used.

Gotcha Julio, we talked to Ken on Saturday and he said the same thing. Both of the '98 cars were early production cars (mine and Anthony's) since we were two of the first LS1s out stomping *** in Houston back in the old days
I believe Jayson received the patch to modify my files. Can't wait to get this thing tuned up!
