Default Guys With 6.0 Iron Blocks Come In

Alright I Buoght A 2000 Short Block,is This Year Any Diffrent?also I Need To Know The Exact Size Drill And Tap I Need For The Bolt The Holds The Alternator Bracket.also Since The Block Is A 2000 And I Have 317 Heads To Go With It,what Head Studs Do I Buy?regular Or 2004 Up I Believe It Is?

If it is truelly a 2000 engine, it is an LQ4. The tap for the alt is an M10, can't recall the thread pitch though. The head stud should be the unequal length ones, not the set that is all the same size.

The tap size is M10 x 1.5 . You can buy the tap at Parts Plus and it will have the drill size needed. I looked for the size online right now and the charts say 8.5 mm drill, but I used a standard drill bit size 11/32" I beleive. It took me a while to get it done, but I took my time. You definitely don't want to break off the drill or tap in there.

LQ4 = dish piston = 9.5 CR
LQ9 = flat top pistons = 10.4 CR (IIRC)

The LQ9 was not available until 2001, that is when 317 heads started becoming standard on Iron 6.0L engines. The LQ4 and LQ9 are identical, except for the piston design.

Ohh So Boosting A Stock Lq4 Is A Good Thing Then,but Even With 40kmiles Should I Trust It?

Depends on how much boost. It is hard to say if the engine is good based on mileage. The miles could have been rough and or water damaged, over heated, or etc ... Or you could find a 100K mile engine that has been pampered and very well taken care of. Best bet is to fully inspect the engine prior to swpping it in.

Can you put aluminum AFR heads on the LQ4/9? Kind of off topic I know...but I'm a little curious.

Yep.. I wouldnt even worry about the alternator hole. I just left mine undrilled. Theres still 3 bolts to hold it on. Havent had any problems yet.
