egr mod????
the egr mod you speak of is simple and is designed to remove the obstruction from the intake air path. remove the tube from the intake, carfully watching that you dont lose that round gasket in the hole, and you will see..
2 inches of steel hanging down into the path of the incoming air. trim that back..goodluck
you can remove the egr all together but would have a constant ses light btw

i am interested in doing the egr mod, but can i totally remove the egr tube??? or do i just have to cut it??? my friend has a 2001 ss and he does not have it. that is the way they come stock. i was wondering if i totally can remove it?? will i pass emissions? how much power can i expect to gain from the mod, thanks!

If you can stand the ses light being on then go for it but all that light is telling you is that the car is running better know what I mean?

so how can 2001 and 2002 not have these, i am also aware that those years have the ls6 intake, but wont it effect the exhaust like you said pinging or something???

On the cars without the EGR, the camshaft profile is different so that it provides the actual EGR function. One of our cam experts on here can explain it better than I can though, so I won't go into detail on how it works, but it does. So it's not like the 01-02 cars don't have an EGR type of system.
