yes, but it would take lots of tricks and cost you more money than to remove the crank. so remove the crank and have it polished

I had all my rod bearings and rod bolts replaced while the motor was still in the car (vette). Had to remove the front spring to get the oil pan off. Its a task to plasti-gage the bearing clearances though.

If it spun a bearing, most likely the crank is scored. I would recommend pulling it and turning it.

Agree. The spun bearing more than likely chewed up the journals to the point where a simple polish won't clean it up.
Also the big end on the rod probably needs to be inspected as well so unfortunately the short block has to come apart.

If this is a quick/budget fix than you can get away with it but don't sell it to anyone you know

Spun is spun. Only time I have seen it not mess up the crank is if the crank wa a forged piece, thats bout it.

About 45 years ago I spun a bearing on a 1955 Ford I had. A guy from the machine shop came out and had some kind of machine that resized the journal with the engine in the car. I kind of doubt if that's still done these days.

If he resized a crank journal by just pulling the pan while leaving the engine in the car and not removing the crank back in the late 50s he must have had his MoJo workin!
