I posted this in the programming section and didn't get and response to it...so I figure I would post it here too....
Well my car when it was a 6-speed made 360rwhp and 350rwtq with a cam on stock heads with a lid and headers....I know if I did some free mods I could of gotten the HP....but supposdly the custom programming gives you more and makes the car run a lot better....it will be tuned with LS1 Edit if I get it...
I am converting over to the TH400 with a 4500 stall, the stall is non locking and I want the car to make the most HP possible....I know I could live with out programming, but the car surges now pretty bad when its semi warm...I can only imagine how bad it would be with a 4500 stall trying to back up in reverse and not being able to rev the car to keep it alive...
If I decide to get programming it will be $500 bucks and it will be combined with dyno tuning...I would most likely set the limiter at 6800 and shift at 6400 for WOT apps....I got the MAFT so I could switch the AFR as I do more mods....
So people do you think its worth it for what I am doing??
I want to put down somewhere around 370rwhp and 390rwtq and thats through the TH400 with the non locking stall, through a 9" with a 3.73 too...
What do you think?
Thanks

yeah i think you could pick up some with tuning on the dyno, who wouldnt. now, i think i could set you up with another cam that would surely make the HP you want but you'd have to be ready to spin the motor up pretty good.

See right now I only want to shift at like 6400-6500, the motor will last a long time with that...I won't be shifting that high everytime I drive it....but if I went with an aggressive cam like a 224/228 .569/.569 112lsa I could make some serious power...or that new LG motorsports cam thats making sick HP, but they won't give the specs on it yet...
If I wanted to spin the motor to 7000 with out worrying I would want to do stronger rods....I don't need any holes being punched in the block....
I want to run around 11.5's with the car with stock heads.....

Expect to loose quite a bit of
power to the rear wheels installing that
Th400 specially compared to a six speed
I would say close to 50hp
I have a TH400 and a 3500 stall .
getting ready to do a LS1 swap into my
1970 camaro ,i'll trade ya my 400 for your
6 spd.

Thats alright I already got everything set....the TH400 doesn't take 50 hp away...the most I've heard is around 20 and thats the MOST...
AZZKICKER with a nitrous cam, thats not as good for n/a went 11.6's.... And he wasn't making that much HP to begin with unless he sprayed it...

just so you know...a TH400 saps AT LEAST 20hp. thats not really taking into account a non-locking verter to a 3.42'd M6. i think he's right. expect 325-330 i think. monster torque though.

I plan on dynoing just to see what the difference is....then I plan on doing a lot of smaller mods...
I am going to gut the MAFT.....
Get some underdrive pullies.....
What else can I do to get those extra ponies?

i for one would love to see a back to back (so to speak) dyno test. then another with the rear, or vice versa. i figured you already had all the ported maf/ported tb/pulley jazz done.
what atap O2's are you seeing with the stock MAF?

not sure, I haven't tested yet....it was running 14:1 AFRS down low before and 12:1 up high, so I set the MAFT to 10%rich base and like 5% lean up top....its been running good like that but I haven't redynoed....
I would like to do as much cheap free stuff as possible to get some of that HP back...

I can't see you hittin 370 with stock heads and a TH400, with a non lockup convertor.
Didn't AZZkicker's car weigh ~3100lbs? You'll need to gut that hawk.

I think its possible in a lightweight car with optimal racing weather. It would be hard to run that time all year round here. And yes, programming will always help, if done right.
Good Luck!
