Re: My motor is SOLD! New project time.....
There are not too many choices for you, either another 382/388 or a 422/427. I don't think you'll want to drop the big bucks on a solid setup, so I predict a 500rwhp 422.
If you were "cool" you'd do a direct port 382ci motor.

[quote]jordon runs about a 10.35 in his LT1 close to full weight. 6 spd, 401cid, some nitrous

what does Jordon run without nitrous? I'm not planning on nitrous just yet. I don't feel like upgrading the entire fuel system this year.
Terry, there are a ton of available cranks now, you can basically get whatever size you want. I know MTI has already installed a 4.25" stroke in a car (449ci with a 4.10 bore). I prefer square or oversquare motors though, so we are considering different bore sizes and crank sizes.
But, you never know, I might show up with the direct port 39Xci setup as well

Tony, just a suggestion, if you're planning on keeping your car a daily driver I wouldn't go with the Dynatech's. They have no emissions hook-ups and the slip on collectors have been known to leak, Grot's are the way to go baby!

speed, do you work for Grot now? sheesh. it is a viable suggestion in this case though. although you can weld collectors on.
sorry tony, i didnt see your 'on motor' notation there. he runs about a 10.8. id shoot for 10.5 just to be safe

Hmmm....A square motor thats not a 422.
4.1 bore * 4.1 stroke = 433ci.
Sounds good to me.

Tony, how long will be to the new motor, cant wait for the competition.I will have my new heads, cam combo ready for install in a month
If your not ready then,I will give you something to shoot for before the stock bottom end blows and I build up the "secert killer combo"

Underdog: Nope don't work there . Just went through the whole Dynatech vs. Grot headers a lot, I went with the Grot's and I need to justify spending the extra $$$, so I guess I need to be gung ho about them Both headers are great IMO though

Re: My motor is SOLD! New project time.....
I can't get a deal on the Grot headers like I can with the Dynatechs, and I can just weld those collectors on no problem
Allan, don't make me add power AND remove weight . Haven't decided on solid roller or not, it all depends on final costs involved. I'd rather have hydraulic + cubes than a solid roller.
so 10.80s is the quickest all-motor T56 4th-gen F-body? Damn, that is TOO easy of a goal! I should be able to beat that mid-summer

Re: My motor is SOLD! New project time.....
yea, I am surprised that record has standed for anything length of time.. race weigh was 3700lbs, with a crummy 60ft.
best 1/8th mile on juice was 6.43 @ 112.. guessing about a 9.8-9.9 @ 145ish.(never ran it 1/4mi with that much juice.. 200 shot).
100 shot went 10.3@ 137

Re: My motor is SOLD! New project time.....
How about a motorsports block bored out to 4.25 combined with a 4.125 crank to = 468cid
Not sure if you want to spend that kind of coin or if that block can handle that bore but if it can WOW

Re: My motor is SOLD! New project time.....
Hey Bob, MTI has already installed a 4.25" stroker crank with no problems. The largest bore that *might* work with their custom sleeves is 4.20", but I do not really want to go with that thin of a cylinder wall or that big of a stroke.
Besides that, these HUGE motors are still somewhat limited by the intake setup. Almost a waste of cubes it seems.
500+ rwhp in a daily-drivable setup would be plenty for me. More is good though

Please enlighten us. Who is currently supplying non-custom cranks other than Lunati? Is anyone undercutting Lunati's prices yet? It still irks me that a gen 1 crank is half the price of an equivilant gen 3.

Which is why you fully plan on getting a Holly intake extrued honed and port matched to your heads along with tapping it for direct port lines, yes? Good luck with your new setup Tony, Im guessing it will be super stealthy and have zero knock BTW, I just sold my grots so stepped dynatechs and an X pipe are going on this weekend

Can you imagine the back log on 422+ size motors when somebody finally comes out with an affordable stroker crank?
