Help!! Asap...no Oil Pressure..
Just Finished Up With My Cam Swap...but When I Fired It Up There Was No Oil Pressure..i Let It Run A Few Seconds Then Shut It Off Because My Oil Guage Needle Wasn't Even Moving,i Replaced The Factory Pump With An Ls6 Ported Oil Pump On My C5...and I Read That It Could Be The O Ring That Goes To The Pickup Tube...but My Question Is, If That Was The Case Wouldnt I Get Some Type Of Pressure, Even If It Was Low?? Is There Anything Else I Could Check?? Thanks...

Check the electrical connection to the sender, check the sender for damage, check the O ring. I would bet on the O ring though. If it got pinched and tore then there might be 0 oil pressure.

everything was working fine before i busted her open....i did not mess with the intake or touch anything behind it or the oil pan where the oil sending sensor is located...also i just finished taking the oil pump off again and the oring is fine....when i turned it on the first time it cranked up just fine no funky noises or anythin...since the oring is fine and i did not mess with the sending unit...what else could it be????

rob2269,
Was the ported LS6 oil pump working OK prior to removal from the C5? ...did you port it yourself before you put it on? Just curious because when I had a similiar problem, it was because I unintentionally damaged the seat of where the o-ring sits at the opening of the pump opening...which caused a complete loss of pressure on my new 408 install. Luckily I found this out before I damaged anything and replaced it....

Check to be sure the wire/sending unit is good, you should be able to check it without pulling the intake. The O ring on the pump I thought was pretty easy, I would say you have a sending unit issue.

well i reinstalled the old oil pump..not ported...and my oil pressure, when i tested it out, went up to around 20psi...so i was like OK, cool ...so i buttoned everything up ready to go...i turn the ignition and slowly i watch my guage go from 15 to 10 to 5 the ZERO... ...turn the ignition on again and its still sitting at zero.. Also while it was idleing and it was trying die on me i would give it a little gas and nothing so i would go down a little more on the gas but never got a responce..i've definitely got issues

Ya, that don't sound to good. Ever think about checking the pickup tube? Also did you some thing dumb like put something (rag) in the oil pan to prevent yourself for dropping the oil tube pick-up bolt into the pan and forgot to pull it back out? Don't ask how I know about that .

I'd try another o-ring as well. If that doesn't solve it, you might want to pull the oil pan to make absolutely sure there's nothing wrong with the pickup such as an object clogging it.
I'm not sure if nicking a cam bearing would cause you to have absolutely 0 oil pressure.

yeah i installed a double roller with the spacers on the oil pump for that extra clearance...i guess i will have to replace the oring see if that works...the old one didnt look damaged at all, but who knows??? if that doesnt work...i am really screwed.. i also checked the oil sending sensor behind the intake and that was fine... what sucks is that its a pain to remove everything on a C5 cause the rack and pinion have to come off in order for the underdrive to come off thanks guys
