Default TR6 Plugs: Any Advantage for High Compression Motors?

My ARE S2 heads should be milled to 10.8:1 or even slightly higher compression. Is there any advantage to running a colder plug like the TR6 (instead of TR55) in terms of being able to either run a little more timing or a slightly leaner mixture?

I think a colder plug is a must with the much more turbulent air charge coming into the cylinders and the higher compression. These two factors can lead to detonation very quickly so yes, a TR-6 and the right gap would be ideal

For every 50 HP you had over stock you need to decrease your gap by .004, so 150 HP over stock is .012 decrease from stock gap.

So long as you're not getting detonation I see no reason to run a cooler plug.

12.2:1 compression and TR-55 plugs here.

If I were trying to run pump gas on the street I would be running TR-6s.

I'm with Steve on this one. You run the risk of fowling plugs sooner than usual.
