If depending on the condition of your engine and the amount of blow-by that is occurring, you could have more positive crankcase pressure than you think which would keep the vaporized oil moving quickly through the catch can. Consider running a catch can exhaust tube out of your engine bay (underneath) if you want to avoid oil deposits on your engine.

I could be wrong, and probably am. I have helped out with some electronics on of couple of road legal drag strip cars, the mechanic says he runs an electronic vaccum to the top of his heads, by having the heads in a vacuum it increases horsepower. Its a different type of engine, a 500ci big block ford running nitrious and large carbs, so may be nothing like our LSX's

So if we put just breather on the heads, we have lost the vacuum but have we lost power? I dont know, so thought I'd bring it up.

Some consider it the 5th cycle for a motor( Suck, Squeeze, Bang, Blow are the 4 cycles). its the process off getting the left over exhaust fumes out of the cylinder before the new air fuel charge comes in cause the last thing you want is a contaminated air'fuel charge. ..forced induction doesnt have that issue due to the fact its forcing air in and out. So for cars that are cammed and have heads increases the air fuel into the cylinder but makes it tougher to get the excess exhaust fumes out of the cylinder.
