Default Coated pistons Vs uncoated pistons...... step inside

Ordering pistons tomorrow for my new motor and debating whether the coating is worth the additional cost. This motor will see 150 to 200 shot of nitrous occasionally at the track and be driven around on the streets as well. Seems Diamond wants almost 400 bucks extra for a fully coated piston. Is it worth it? Anyone tore down a motor with coated pistons to see if the coating was still intact or is this something that simply burns off after install? Please, no speculation, just facts. TIA guys.....

On a FI motor I would get the thermal barrier (crowns coated) for sure - nitrous it probably isn't as big of an issue - esp. for only a 150-200shot. If it isn't to much more you might look into that though (full coating probably includes the low-friction skirt coating also).

Polydyne coating does it for like $300 thats the sides and the tops. I say its worth it for peace of mind since you most likely spray it on the street also and temps can run higher on the street.

The ceramic coating on the tops is really worth it. It will keep the heat from passing through the piston. It also does not burn off after you run it. Now on the other hand, the moly skirt coatings due wear off after they have been run. When you pull the pistons out after running them you will notice that they have a wear pattern on the skirts. If you are going to due anything, get the tops coated.

Thanks,
