My SES light came on today. The only thing I have done recently is HPPIII programming about a week ago. I changed the shift firmness, shift points, and rev limiter. Could any of this throw a code? Anybody else had HPPIII cause a SES light?

I don't know the code. I don't have A-tap. What is a read code? And you can actually get a SES light if you don't tighten your gas cap enough? *laugh I doubht thats it, its been a while since I filled up.

A evap test wont run untill fuel level is between 85% to 15%. That's why the light doesn't come on right after fill up. SNEAKY! At least 3 CLICKS on the cap is what they say. I say make it click for a 1/4 turn. Bunch of clicks. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

You can go to www.actron.com it can read codes and clear them. Most parts houses have them I got mine at autozone.

Must have a scan tool or the like to clear codes in an OBD2 vehicle. Disconnecting the bat will do it BUT you may have to wait 2 days. Not like the days pre-OBD cars. disconnect the bat pre '95 Chevys would take 10 sec to clear. After '95 OBD 1 and 2 cars will do it in 30 min. others will take a lot longer. ie a weekend. I don't know how long These car take. Hope this helps. Haven't been to a school on these car yet. But 1 is coming and I will go. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0"> Just at this site
www.installuniversity.com ! They also have a way to clear codes. EASY! <img src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" border="0" alt="[hail]" />

Well I got it A-tapped and I got a PO420. catylst low efficanty bat 1 or something. Really strange since my car only has 7k miles. I can't believe the 02 sims would be out or the cats clogged. So I reset it and hanv't got the SES back on yet. So *fingers crossed*.

Ok ,i've got 2001 also when i first
programed HPP guess what <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">
Yeah poped the code, don't know why
either. Although i do remember car
smelled rich when i shut it down.
Guess would be to much WOT without
letting car run long enough to burn
cats clean

Damit. My SES light came on again after I cleared it just 2 days ago. Could I have a bad 02 sensor or clogged cat? My car only has 7k miles on it. Or is this HPPIII programming to blame? How do I correct this annoiance?
