I think that Ethans situation is pretty bad. You spen a lot of money at a place and all you get is grief and exscuses for why the motor is not performing the way is was claimed to do. This one of the reasons I choosed to use MTI. If you had a problem like this they would not make exscuse they would just fix it. I very happy to see that Brent is doing a great job on repairing it and giving Ethan a very good reliable(correct piston) motor. Its just a shame that Xcessive wont take any blame for the mistakes that they allowed to happen. Maybe it should Xcessive problems motorsports... <img src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" border="0"> Its a shame that its hard to get quality work when you spend tons of money. I personly would go after both shops for your troubles.

I broke a timing chain on my last motor and bent almost all the valves.
All I can say is, that I have known Ethan for quite a while, and have talked him on the fone, and he's never balked at spending money. I'm sure he bought whatever he was reccomended to buy.

Not to change the subject, But when I was 11 yrs old, now 41, My dad had a Mercedes-Benz 6cyl gas car. It went to missing and running bad. This 'almost mechanic' said "i know what that is." and put another cam in the engine. Broke that cam and dad paid for another one. OHC. I went with Dad to pick up the car. It ran the same. The guy still wanted to get paid and to keep the peace, thats another long story, dad did.I think it was 3000.oo in 1972. We went to another friends house and while dad was gripping to his friend, I reached and started pulling plug wires. ( I learned that from my next door hotrod buddy who always screwed his car up and fixed it)I pulled 1 and it ran better. I showed dad what I did and he fixed it with NAIL POLISH that my mom had. ran great! It was a bad dist cap! carbon trace. He still has that cap to this day. And that was the day I knew I wanted to be a mechanic. And I have. The only way to gain expeariance(sp) is to make mistakes. But DAM. That was just plain lazy/sloppy work. The boso's out there are the ones who give us good techs a bad name.
