Default Gutting Cats??????????

What is the best way to cut the cats with out breaking into them? Someone told me to chissle them out, but i cant see how a chissle can fit all the way down the pipe before the actual cat.

Help please.........

Take them off and you can gutt them in 3 minutes each. Leave them on, curse alot, **** away an afternoon and make a bigger mess. Your choice.

Exactly! There is no reason not to take them off for gutting on an ’00 and up model...

00Z28,
Just go buy pipes from straight line performance for $100.. Saves time and you have the cats when you need them for smog..

Once you remove them you can go in from the top, then there will be no need to get “...all the way down the pipe”. I used a long screw driver myself. Anything like that should work. Just bust up as much as you can and keep shaking it till it all falls out.

Then it is an exercise in futility. It is my understanding that gutting the cats, as opposed to ditching them, achieves little to no gain in hp.

I also believe that the drone is over-rated. I travel a lot of highway at 1500-2500 rpm's and it doesn't bother me.

Just get a sub <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">

I think this will depend on your whole exhaust system.. I think they gain of race pipes for a little 2200-2500 rasp/drone (what ever you want to call it) and being able to smog is worth it..

I used a pry bar to gut mine. The bar was about 2.5" long.

But I ended up having to buy an exhaust system afterwards because it sounded like complete gabage with just a cut-out.
