Sorry Steve but I have to dissagree.Internally the stick is more efficent.I believe there's still 2 to 3% loss over a stick.
But u r entitled to your opinion

Hah there are tons of people that make a lot more power than I do. I'm just contesting JS's assertion that his combo would make additional power in a 6spd vs his locked A4.

Do you have any factual data to back up your claim or did you just make this number up because it would be just enough to put your dyno numbers over GTP's?

Then why do all shops give dyno figures on 6sp cars?If you'd show a better number threw an auto I would expect a shop to use the auto?
Well u learn something everyday.I wouldve never figured an auto to more efficent than a stick.

Lets just assume a locked converter is as efficient as a clutch. Then where do we stand with the fact that a a4 is more massive internally than a 6 spd, so wouldn't there be more recipricating mass? And secondly, what about having to spin an oil pump that provides 75 lbs of oil pressure or more in the automatic? I just don't see it being able to be more efficient than a 6 spd. I have heard of heavily modified transmissions being able to have less loss than a 6 speed, but remember we're comparing a normal A4 with a yank to a six speed. I would like to here any other thought processes on the subject, am I missing something? Later-Max

Thats exactly my thought.Auto trans just has more internals to move and fluid coupling etc.We need Chris B. to finalize this question.
I still belive a 6sp will be alittle better but lets just wait and see if Chris shows up to set us straight.

Actually I have seen dyno numbers where the short belt maid only a few hp so it really doesn't matter b/c weight can kill those few hp.... you dont have to be jealous!!! LOl

Oh no Terry..Geoff is making some SERIOUS power with his GTP/224 setup.I'm not like u.I dont knock them like u did accusing them of stealing MMS's 224 cam.But like this post u r trying to start BS again.I'm not going there with u.
Do I have any facts that an auto vs a stick is at a dis-advantage.Not me,maybe Chris B. can elaborate. He's smart enough to know the answer to that question I'm sure.I'd like to myself to tell u the truth.
Joe P. u make a good point about the trans. We both know it was starting to slip on the dyno when I ran the S1/224 setup.I will give u the benefit of the doubt,so we made 374.4RWHP/357.4 using the S1/216 cam when the trans was working just fine..Add the 224 and u get +9RWHP/13RWTQ.So in all actuality your JPR S1/224 combo made around 383.4RWHP/370.4RWTQ.Very good numbers for that setup if I say so myself.
But your fogetting one thing Joe.U and ALOT of other people said,"I wouldnt pick up an additonal
30/30 from chaging setups" U along with all of them were correct,I didnt pick up 30/30.
I PICKED UP 58.1 RWHP/30.6 RWTQ.I'd say thats a good gain.

From my experience, an A4 car with a lightweight aftermarket converter will put down slightly better "dyno HP" when locked than an m6 car.
This is when comparing mod for mod of course, and based on my own observations and experience around dynos and running dyno-days.
