Default gapless rings or not?

I still havnt desided if i want to run a gapless ring or not. Give me some of the pros and cons of both.
BTW these rings are for the big bore motor coming soon.

I'd like to know myself. I know there are folks that say that gapless rings are prone to flutter.

Gapless ring are definately the hot set up. Little to no leakdown once seated and usually better oil control. Flutter can be eliminated by gas porting. I would recommend gas ported pistons with the gapless rings. The rings can give you a decent hp increase which is always good. Blowby is much less with gapless rings if done right.

I wouldn't run a gapless ring. The theory sounds great - but you *never* see any real benifits from them. Yeah, the engines have great leakdown numbers, but oil consumption is the same (or power), power is the same (or less), etc.

The flutter problem referenced was a tendency for gasses to get trapped between the first and second ring - causing the flutter issue.

I would just run a good set of Plasma Moly rings.
