I've been driving my car around since we installed the LT's with off road pipes. I always left the Borla open, but with the ORP's I did not like the rasp sound. I don't mind the volume, but the sound is just not good.
I tried different plates to try to get a better sound and ended up with it closed. That is the best sound for me with this setup. I am thinking I should just put some cats on it and open the Borla back up. (and it looks stupid warming up with all the steam coming out of one pipe.. lol )
Anyway, if I go for cats.....which ones with the Borla?
Thanks guys!

Hello beth, how is it going?
Well I had the same problem as you did. I had MAC headers with the offroad Y pipe and it sounded really raspy between 2200 and 2700 RPMs. So I had Carsound cats welded in and had them made so they could quickly unbolt and bolt in racing pipes at will. I had the work done at Mufflex.
The Carsound cats are the highest flowing out there and are emmissions legal. I had them installed and then opened up the Borla all the way. Now the car sound really nice.
Let me know what you decide. I went with the 3" Carsound Cats.

Hi Dan,
I think that is my logical choice when it comes to flow and performance, but when I just drive around town I just want it to sound good to me!
In my mind she is a good looking, hard workin' b..... but the minute she opens her mouth....UGH ! You know the kind.....
I will have an easy on easy off setup.
Thanks!

I think I will go with the Carsound.
Where do I buy them? A part # would be useful too. I assume they make a 3 in 3 out?
Thanks

Bullet mufflers in the Y-pipe would also clear up most of that rasp. They are a lot cheaper than cats. About $30 a piece for Dynomax race bullets...

problem with putting in cats is they seem to start out really loud, then they quiet down after sucking alot of exahust through...
I think a persian would do well, lots of hair to muffle the sound.....
then again, a tabby might allow more flow....

I need to know if this is right.
I tracked down Part # 94019. This cat is 16" from pipe to pipe, 3" in and out. Is this the correct one?

I am guessing if it is, I need to make the Y pipe shorter?
Thanks.

Dynomax part number for the following:
3" Bullet in I-pipe (12" long) - 24222
3" Bullet in I-pipe (18" long) - 24219 (yes it will fit if you have bad rasp)
2-1/2" Bullet for y-pipe (2 req) - 24215

I got my Carsound cats from www.mufflex-performance.com
Give them a call and ask for the owner Denny. He will give you the part numbets for the 3" in and 3" out cats. They are great. I love mine.
