Re: Advice on my new Head and Cam package??? Anyways i called and cancelled the milling of the heads. Do you think this was a good idea? I plan on putting on a ATI procharger. I figured i would give up the loss of 20hp in the meantime instead of dumping another 2k on a set of new heads.

You arent going to gain 20 rwhp from milling the heads. Build the bottom end, there is no point in spending thousands on heads cam and a procharger when your rods and pistons are going to be the limiting factor.

However, Supercharging is worth a lot more then 4%.
Much better to not mill the heads then risk detonation under boost.
I agree that you should give ARE's head gaskets which are designed for boost a try.
If I'm not mistaken, aren't they what Rob Raymer uses on his Turbo car?

Re: Advice on my new Head and Cam package??? hey i am running a vortech w/ a set of jpr headsand a 216-220 cam. he actually opened up the combustion chamber and lowered my car to 9.2 to 1. this way i am able to run more boost and not have to worry about detonation. i havent dyno'd the car or took it to the track yet. but the car is making some serious power.

Re: Advice on my new Head and Cam package??? One question for you - why would you tear it down enough to replace rods but not put better pistons in it? Especially if you are going to be putting it under boost!! If you're going that deep into the engine do it once and do it right.
