Default Advice on my new Head and Cam package???

Well i ordered my heads and cam package and a bunch of other stuff. They will be going in on March 7th. I was wondering if this is a good setup for a future ATI Procharger. Also what types of HP numbers am i looking at to the wheels. I will list all my mods.

I would strongly look into upgrading the CRAP 10 bolt to a 12 bolt or 9 inch. IMOP you are wasting money on the Auburn gear set. Look into a Cartek or Ram clutch also.

Well the auburn is my stock unit.

I plan on upgrading to a Moser 12 bolt.

But not until my rearend goes out.

The car only has 3k miles on it.

Yes i know i will need a clutch, but my z06 should hold up for now. Once it goes i will get a new one.

I would suggest not milling the heads, you really don't want to run a higher compression with a procharger....what heads are you going with?

You should make some good rear wheel HP, defiently over 400rwhp

And that Z06 clutch will not last through one launch with that setup....mine went in 4000 miles...

Glad to see ya over on this board, the GTP's are good heads..... <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0"> I saw my first ATI car saturday night, has a nice badass whine to it.... <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

Yes i think so. The one with 8 psi or 9 psi. I forget the actual numbers.

Yea, I want to get one sooner or later, go with the D-1sc supercharger instead of the standard P-1sc, you have a choice between 2 pullies too the 5lbs and the 7lbs....you will be around 550 rwhp with that on top of heads and cam..... <img src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" border="0" alt="[hail]" />

Definitely don't want to increase compression if you are going to install a supercharger.

Matter of fact it would makes sense to drop compression.

I have a 11.25:1 motor and I would need to run race gas all the time if I wanted to beat on the car, OR run so little timing the car might end up losing a lot of power.

So your saying milling my heads will increase my compression?

I was told this is a perfect setup for a ATI procharger.

Do not mill the heads. This increases compressions which increase your risk of detonation and major bottom end damage. If you are definitely getting the S/C, contact ARE about a head gasket designed for boost.

With the setup the bottom end will wear out faster than usual, but its still fairly new considering you only have 3000 miles on the car...

Milling the heads will bump you up to 11:1 compression....

The best setup would probably be to go with some forged dished pistons, and forged rods....that would make you compression a lot lower and throwing an ATI on top of it wouldn't really run any risks....

Milling the heads means you are in effect planing off some of the surface.

You will in effect make the combustion chambers smaller, this makes sense right?

This increases compression.

I know that heads sometimes need a .010 cleanup, and perhaps that's unavoidable, but in some cases BLOWER heads might be for example truck heads which have 70 cc combustion chambers vs the stock 65 or cc's that we have. In some cases some BLOWER heads feature combustion chambers that have been opened up a little bit.

I just purchased heads, Cam, and ATI supercharger combo. I talked to the guys at Gold West Performance and they sold me on this package. I had called everyone LPE, ARE, MTI, VHP. And in my opinion Gold West really new what they were talking about and they new exactly what
I wanted. MORE POWER and RELIABILITY...

They told me that the head and cam packages they sell are specifically tuned and ported for supercharging. And on top of that the PCU program they are going to send me is tuned for the heads, cam, and supercharger. I should be making close to 575-600rwp after all these toys are pieced together under the hood.

I cant wait <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">
