Default New Engine Question?

So I was told that the LS1 motor compenents will not fit on to a 350 engine...is this true?

I have a blown engine looking to do a swap... any good places to get a new engine?

There are many versions of the SBC... most common is 350. Many referr to the Ls1 as a 350 but it's not... LS1 internals are somewhat interchangable between all Gen III/IV motors.

did you destroy the block or just destroy a piston/rod?

It is more of a question of mounts and brackets.. the compoenents thenself(Alternator, P/S pump, etc) will work if you have mounts and brackets to line up and be driving off of the crank.

Well I am not sure what is damaged, but it will cost just as much to tear it down than to just replace drop and swap due to labor charges.

Basically what I am asking is if I got a 350, could I just drop and swap, i.e. intake manifold, wiring, pcm? Or would I be looking at needed a whole new setup.

Also, is a LS6 plug and play with a LS1 or am I looking at the same issue as the 350?

When you say 350 what do you mean?? 350 what???

an LS6 is 100% plug and play.

and just to clarify unless you are ferring to a Gen III/IV motor (ie and LS1-LS7) the head/intake and other parts will not bolt on on old SBC (350)

What did you blow up and what are you trying to put in its place? What model and year for car and engine.

A 350 is a Gen I Small Block Chevy from 1967 - 1995. 1996 - 2000 350's were vortec truck engines, and still had full interchangable parts.

From 1992 - 1997, LT1 350's were available in 'Vettes, Camaro - Firbirds and Caprice - Impala SS - Roadmaster.

Starting 1997, the LS1 came in 'Vettes, and in 1998 in F-body cars. It is 346 cubic inches, not 350 (no matter what car salesmen might say!)

This is the source of our confusion. Sorry to sounds like a smart ***, no flame intended here

Slight correction.

The LT1 did not appear in the Camaro/FB until 1993. Biggest engine in the '92 Z28 was the a 350 TPI.

True. Same could also be said of LS1's appearing in 97 vettes and 98 f-bods. There were four different small block V8 engines available from the general in 97: Vortec 350 in Trucks, LT1 350 in F-body, LT4 350 in some SLP Firehawks & LS1 346 in Corvette. That doesn't include any 305 truck motors or the discontinued in 96 262 V8 from Caprices.

MagiC5 - Chevy made small blocks in 262, 265, 267, 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350 and 400 cubic inches, with bores ranging from 3.500 - 4.125 and strokes from 3.00 - 3.75
