How to tell if it's a real SS? A friend of mine just got a very sweet and clean '99 Camaro SS. What he is wondering is how can he tell if it's a true SS or not?
He doesn't see anything on the car in regards to SLP so he's now starting to try to figure out if it's a real SS or not.

Re: How to tell if it's a real SS? Z28SS21 is right...if it is an SS, there will be a code that I think says W or WU. I had the same problem with my car which was bought used with an SS type hood but no badges. Unfortunately for me, I thought it was an SS and bought it. <img src="gr_sad.gif" border="0">
Fortunately, I got it for a steal with low miles. <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">

I'm actually sorta glad mine's not an SS, because in Hawaii the 275 size tires on them cost a fortune!

Re: How to tell if it's a real SS? The ONLY time a SLP sticker will be on the car, is if it had SLP OPTIONAL equipment (Dual-Dual Exhaust, Key Fob, Floor Mats, etc.).
I ordered a NEW SS without any optional equipment and there was NO SLP sticker on the car.
The presence of the "WU8" RPO code as stated above will confirm that it is truly an SS.

WU8 is GM option code and will be on the sticker on the driver's door.
The sticker on the passenger door will list SLP optional content. No sticker, no SLP Y2Y content, it's a base SS.

Re: How to tell if it's a real SS? Thanks for the responses guys! I posted the VIN up on SLP's site and found out his car has a build number.
He just wanted to make sure it was a true SS from the factory. Now, on the SLP Options that came with the car, I'll have to pass that info onto him.
