Default Copper head gaskets or not?

I'll try and make this to the point. The car is going in for the new shortblock and nitrous setup within the next few weeks. I plan on spending the majority of the time with the 150 shot, but do plan on seeing 200 shot. Should I go with copper head gaskets, or is there something better, OR will the stock head gaskets be good enough? I heard copper was not good for street use.

TIA

Even though this is nitrous related...I feel you'll get better responses in the engine section. I'll move it there

Mike copper is not recommended for street use.

I would get some Cometico gaskets, they are $200 a set but they hold up well. I think Rob Raymer has them on his Turbo LS1 Z28 and they are holding up to some major boost. Any of the sponsors should be able to get them for you.

Mike i would reccomend you go with Arp bolts or studs would work even better with aluminum block threads. You may allready be planning this but i thought it was worth mentioning.

Richie,

not good for street use? that's what I thought. I'm going to look into these Cosmetico's. Sounds like they will be perfect for my application. As far as the price, oh well, this whole LS1 experience has been nothing but costly!

LS1derfull,

Yup, ARP bolts are already part of the plan!

Thanks guys!

Copper head gaskets need extra tlc to get water passages to seal up well, this requires a good sealer like Halomar. This is not that big of a deal but sometimes this type sealer is temporary and has to be reapllied, not convenient in Ls1 application for street use. There may be new sealers now that take care of this for all i know.
