Did I waste my $$$ on corsa
This morning I ordered a corsa cat-back system for my 2000 WS6. When I got home I looked at my window sticker and it shows the WS6 option comes equiped with a "specific low restriction dual exhaust system". Did I just waste my money or should I see some decent performance gains? Should I have put that money towards a set of headers instead?
Any feedback would be appreciated!

I’ve had a few catbacks on my LS1s and I didn’t really care for the stock WS6 system too much. Too quiet for me. Some have said that it flows very poorly, while others have reported only small gains after swapping it out. As far as I know, the Corsa systems aren’t really know for making big power as a catback. I’m sure it flows somewhat better than your stock system, but I doubt it flows well enough to justify that OUTRAGEOUS price tag. You could have bought a better flowing system for much less, but if you bought it because you liked the looks and/or sound then that might make it worth it to you. Point is, I don’t think you gonna see a huge gain with that catback (especially if you’ve got a mostly stock motor).
The WS6 exhaust flows rather well for coming from the factory. However the Corsa is a very nice exhaust system and has very nice sound and quality of parts.
With any exhaust system on the market, you would only see maybe 3-5 RWHP difference over what you already have. Basically you pay money for the sound that you want. Some people like it loud, some people like it quiet.
If I were you, I would keep my high flowing WS6 exhaust and put the money towards headers.

IMO the performance will improve if you like the sound...
Only your ears will know!
- flame suit firmly wrapped to body -
Does the 2.75" stock IM pipe flow good enough for a "stock" motor?
Probably.
Could you eke out a little more with a new system?
Probably.
My guess is the stock muffler would be the choke point.
IMO.

Well I like the Look of the Corsa Exhaust but I like the sound of the SLP loudmouth exhaust(heard it the first time this weekend) I want to hear the Hooker Cat Back ...... I had a chance when Justin and Jason cam to the track but my dumb *** had to go and try to make a pass while they were gettin ready to leave and I missed it

I like my Corsa. I guess it must flow OK too because with only an SLP lid, descreened stock MAF and the Corsa I dynoed at 317.3 hp and 338.1 torque. This is with an A4 tranny. I can't complain.

Let's see - my exhaust setup is Dynatech stepped headers into a 3-inch y-pipe into a 3.5 inch pipe with 3.5 inch cutout then into a 3-inch reducer pipe leading to a Corsa.
Peak horsepower through 3.5 inch cutout - 491 (SAE). Peak horsepower through Corsa - 481 (SAE). I only lost 10 HP from cutout to Corsa, but that INCLUDED a pipe diameter reduction to 3 inches. To only lose that little with the pipe reduction, the Corsa has to be flowing very, very well.
Looking inside the Corsa, you can see that it is a flow through design, which also implies that it flows well.
The upshot of all of this - Corsa flows well, looks great, and has the BEST quality of the exhaust systems. But it is very pricey, which turns a lot of people off.

How’s that? I don’t see how it’s any better quality than 2OTL or dual/dual for example???

Aftermarket exhausts are more of an appearance/sound mod IMO. I didn't see much of a gain on the dyno with any of my bolt on mods but I like the way my car sounds so who cares.
When the corsa first came out it supposedly made 14rwhp over stock on a H/C car. (If I remember correctly)
Did I buy mine for just performance? Hell no. IMO, it is THE best looking catback available.
I had a Borla on my 96Z28 and within an hour of highway driving, I had a splitting headache from the drone.
With my Corsa, 4.5hr trip and no headache whatsoever.
Corsa has the nicest looking tips, PERIOD.
Do I wish I had bought a different system? Not one bit.
Install tip....If you have a prob slipping the pipes together, get a 5" C-clamp to squeeze the out-of-round side a little. Took me a couple hours to install by myself. That includes cutting the old one off.

the performance gains while they are there are not stupendous. however the difference in sound is fantastic over my stock SS exhaust. its still quiet at idle and doesn't resonate on the highway however get it above 3000 rpm comming away from a light and you will get noticed. I had a guy driving a porsche pull up next to me after I had taken off at WOT with him behind me just to yell over "Dude that was Fu$%ing awesome"
Dude, if you don't like interior resonance, or droning, you've made an excellent choice! If you like a badass tuned exhaust note at WOT, you've definitely made a good choice.. I have TPIS LT headers, and that alone makes for one hell of an awesome exhaust!! I am sitting here, looking at this cam, and I know that when it goes in, it will be AWESOME!! Stick with it, you won't regret it, I promise!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone,
Thanks for your input. Based on your comments I decided to cancel my order and save the money for headers. Since my car is 100% stock, I'm looking for performance. Hopefully, in the next couple of weeks I'll order headers. I guess a cool sounding exhaust will have to wait until I break into the 12's.

I agree - definitely the right thing to do, particularly when you are money limited in your options.
However, if you can do BOTH, then I am even a bigger fan. This is particularly true for me, where I work with a bunch of RICH f***ers who are all into high dollar Mercedes, BMWs, Porsches, etc. Gotta put the hurt on those guys in both performance and class.
