Sure it's not running rich? Should be more bluish if it's oil.

My wideband says 15.0-16.0 at idle. It's only reading the driver's side though, I need to get my B2 O2 sensor replaced so I can see if it reads the same as B1

Sounds like the valve seals aren't seated all the way to me.

He should hope it's something that simple. That's pretty lean AFR for seeing any sort of residue out of the exhaust.

B1 and B2 NB O2's read the same. I'll try to get a video later.

The heads came pre-assembled from TSP. I just bolted them on.

Do a compression test. You may be getting blowby. Was this motor built for a big shot?

I selected the parts, had a machine shop in Tucson do the machine work and short block assembly for me.

I'd do a compression test and go from there. Valve seals are gonna be a pain to check though b/c you'll have to remove the springs.

I've done springs multiple times before, not a big deal in the truck. Comp test first though.

Couldn't he just do a visual to see if they're pushed down far enough?

It's hard to tell, depending on the springs you have because the base of the spring where it ends and binds up is going to block much of your view. It's hard enough to tell if those things are down all the way with the springs off, let alone the springs on with the retainers covering the top view down.

Well I haven't run a comp test yet but I did pick up a gauge today. I noticed that after a long drive it seems to get worse after it sits and idles a bit, definitely smells like oil, but only after idling for a little bit. When I first park it and look it's not bad at all. I'm just wondering if my pistons shrink a little bit and allow some oil to get behind the rings when they cool down a bit.

Was your block bored/honed by that shop you took it to? Could be an uneven bore/hone job.

I Leak Down tester would be better than doing a compression test. It will also help to find if it is a valve, seal or rings that is faulty or leaking.

Well I've still been too damn lazy to run a compression test on my motor. But...I pulled the throttle body off my intake tonight and stuck my hand down in there, and there is a thin layer of oil inside the manifold. I think my problem might be the crappy PCV system. It doesn't smoke anymore except if I let it sit and idle for a few minutes, then it smokes up a storm. Definitely smells like oil. I went ahead and bought an LS6 valley cover from a member on the site, so I'll be installing that in a week or two. Hopefully that will solve the problems - and hopefully I'll get off my lazy *** and do the compression test sometime before then too
