Default Grott headers - which Y pipe???

I've heard that the Grottyohann Y pipe isn't the finest piece of equipment in the world (true?). Which Y pipe are you guys using instead?? 2002 6 speed car.

You are correct. The Ghann y-pipe is junk. I had a real nice 3" y-pipe made here locally and have been happy ever since. Don't waste your time/money on the POS Ghann version.

The fit is really bad. Mnay people have had to dent the y-pipe in order for it to clear the floorboard and/or crossmember. The y-collector is nothing more than 2-pipe running into each other. A 5 year old could do a better job. LOL Grotyohann + custom y-pipe = the way to go. <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

I've got a set of Grots and his y-pipe sitting here for installation next week. I don't know about fitment issues, yet, but the welds on the pipe look like they were done by some kid in a high school shop class. I had my muffler guy go over them as best as he could.

HI. Just a newbie, I know, but I've been around other boards for years. I've had my Grot Headers and y-pipe for two years. That's one of the older sets around, I know. The y-pipe I received had first class fit and finish. No problems to date, and increased power measurably, to 12.2x/114.

I don't know if or why fit is a problem now, but my equipment is as good or better than ANY I've since seen.

IAN- You will be much happier having one made. I did and it works great. My experience with local shops was they didn't have mandrel bent 3" pipes. My y-pipe is all 3" and goes into a Flowmaster collector. You can order some mandrel 90's and 45's and a Flowmaster collector from Jeg's to make life easier before going to an exhaust place. The other difficult piece was getting 3" flanges to mate up with the headers. If you go 2- 1/2" they are easy to find at most exhaust places.

Check all the vendors, but DON'T ORDER THEM DIRECT. Been there and done that.
