Maf Not registering/ on autotap sits at .03 any ideas need help asap
Okay to start this off I have been working on getting my car computer done have had it done and it work on one car but not mine, well it turns out that my maf is not registering to the computer, it says it is .03 and it stays there even if I give it gas. Basically I have used three different mafs, two stock and on Granitelli. Has anyone ever had this problem, I know that it is reading 5 volt to the plug in but what would it be a burnt wire, I have no idea kind of clueless right now. If anyone sees this please give me the pins for a 98' camaro so I can try and rewire the maf and see if that works, any ideas would be great on what it might be I am thinking that it is the wires cause it isn't reading on the computer but is recieving 5volts to the plug in, ??????

If you can put your hands on a Helms for a '98, look at DTC PO101 Mass Air Flow Performance. It has some basic points to check voltages that may put you on track to the right wire. I have a 2000 Helms and dunno how/if the wiring colors differ but I know some of the pcm pinouts differ.

You don't happen to have any big vacuum leaks do you? I've seen one LS1 with a cracked intake that did something similiar. No codes were set although the MAF reading on the scan tool was steady. Once the vacuum leak was fixed the MAF started working fine, we found out later that the PCM assigned a default value to the MAF, hense the unchanging number.

I did not see an intake leak, and the MAP values ranged as low as 30 kpa (hunting idle problems with no maf, etc.) - which I would not expect with a vacuum leak that large?

If you have the ability measure the frequency on the MAF output wire while it's running, check to see if there is any output. If the MAF is functioning(which it should be if you've changed 3 of them) i'd swap out the PCM. It may have fried something.
If it's not reading anything, then you may have a bad ground wire.

I had/have the same problem. For some reason the pink wire was not supplying power to the MAF. I still haven't found out the reason for this, but as a temporary fix, I ran a wire from the fusebox (the fuse that the wire is supposed to run off) back to the maf connector. It fixed my problem for the time being until i can hunt down the cause or take it to an auto electric place and have them diagnose the problem.
FYI I was dynoing my car and we discovered my maf was not registering again. The connection had come loose. After reconnecting the MAF, the numbers shot up 10 RWHP across the board.
btw i have a 97 lt1 ta, but figured this was relevant to your problem.

Well unfortunatly I didn't think that there was a fuse, and sure enough the dam fuse is the culprit. I appreciate all the replys, and I guess that I will need to study up on my electronics, I know my engine back and forth and every thing else.
Thanks for all the responses

Good save there! I remember having one car not getting power to the rear H02 sensors and it was one of the fuses also <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">
