My question is who has heads milled 50 thousands and have they checked the P/V clearance? If so, have they determined what the biggest cam they could run with stock pistons.. This is the million dollar question..
<hr></blockquote>

Just try it out and measure with clay, its not that hard. Worst case you take the cam out and sell it after the test.

I thought you clay it first and then get the cam.. How much is milled on your heads Terry? Mine are milled .42.. Mike Morgan still has not responded to my email..

Like I said I think they are milled .010 or .015. I bought them "off the shelf" and I don't know what the original customer had done.

You just put the cam in there, and clay measure it. Or just risk it like I always do. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

I was just wondering how that big cam of yours fit.. Your car must be milled 15 thousandths to get 11.3:1 compression.. That explains why that MMS229 cam has no clearance problems.. I am sure Mike Morgan has experimented with 11.7:1 compression and above and has milled heads 50thousandths and used different cams.. I just want to know how far could I go..

Just buying a cam and throwing it in and then claying it post possible head and engine damage from the piston hitting the valves.. You must make money that you can just blow..

Put it in. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0"> If you hear a "clank" sound when you turn the motor over there isn't enough clearance. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

You can't account for thermal expansion by just turning the motor over and listening. If contact is a real concern you really need to clay it and measure the clearance. High RPM could also be a potential problem area if your lifters aren't bleeding down adequately.

When I see gains like what you made on a more consistent basis then I will get a bigger cam. Your gains are not the norm.. Mike M. should get all of his MMS229 customers to post thier #'s to convince the crowd of that awesome cam.. Just one here and just one there just could be factory tolerances..

If I think of it saturday I'll try to get a vacuum reading of the B1 before pulling it and a vacuum reading of the MMS229 at the *same* idle speed (if it'll idle that is haha)

---->stock M6 idle speed right now <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

I would think that barometric pressure would have an effect on this too. Imagine being at 6000ft would create a different vacuum reading since the barometric pressure is only 22"

Data is only useful if the variables are controlled.

How about a TR 224 cam on 112ls? No one can afford an $8 vacuum guage?

TTT, so far we have a list of one. I guess the MMS 229v2.1 is the best idling cam out there?
