Hey Tony, I heard Vegas has odds going on how long your 6-speed will last, any gamblers in the crowd?

Tony
i wouldn't be using the "street/strip" version of the jesels
spend the $$ and get the good kind
they really aren't that good of a rocker
i know a few shops who have tried to use them and haven't had good results. They could never get the tip of the rocker to correctly move back and forth over the valve stem
They called Jesel and they bascially told him what do you expect for $600?
spend the extra $400-500 and get the better ones or spend the $800 and get T&Ds. They are just as good

Im inclined to agree with Kash on this one too. When I was talking with Jesel awhile back, they said the street/strip was not going to be adjustable. If you go solid, you are going to have to buy a whole new set of rockers. Go for the good ones and only do it once... IMHO.

I believe T3 is the feminator! Hence the reason to skip that one!!!
It is a female terminator in the up and coming T3 : Rise of the Machines movie. Now back to our regularly scheduled topic!
I also was wondering about the T-56 holding up. After all , Tony has already done a bit of damage to his current T-56 with less power!

Tony, you better be doing 4.56s and 28" Hoosiers. Mine will be here next week hopefully.
Also, what is the reasoning for the Jesel street/strip rockers? Is it because they fit under the stock valvecovers? As stated above, I would highly look into the T&Ds or the adjustable Jesels. You will need a C5R valvecover or a SAM spacer/long plug wires. However, this is the route I would take as it is only a little more cash.

So they gonna build yours before they do mine ??!!! That's not fair I was first . Oh well, at least I can hope that they are going to make a mistake by sending me your motor

Re: Update On Nine Ball's Engine...! Where is it???
I've only blew up one T56 internally, but that was when my stock rearend busted and locked up shifting into 4th gear at the track. All we had to replace were some rings and little metal square alignment blocks. Other than that, my T56 trannys have only been synchro rebuilds. One tranny typically lasts me an entire racing season.
Weatherguy, you knew I couldn't just do something that had already been done by MTI. I'm notorious for trying out new stuff, and so far everything has worked just great
About the street/strip Jesels, MTI has been installing these on almost every 422ci since they came out. No problems yet. Could it possibly be that MTI uses proprietary custom made valves specifically designed for their motors? And yes, they fit underneath the stock valvecovers if you remove those splash guards and grind down a few bumps. They actually seem pretty nice to me, for only being $695 retail.
When it comes time to be a solid roller, I'll sell these and upgrade just like anything else. Or, I might just sell the entire motor just like last time
If the T56 ever blows up internally, I expect a TH350 with a trans-brake, reverse manual shift will be installed. The thought of letting a computer handle my shift points makes me

Re: Update On Nine Ball's Engine...! Where is it???
I have the non-adjustable Jesels. They look sweet to me and work just fine. We had to grind the underside of them at the transition just a little bit to make them clear the spring retainers. No big deal. A little grinding on the stock valvecover splashguards and no problem there either.
So how are they different than the adjustable Jesels other than not being adjustable?

Re: Update On Nine Ball's Engine...! Where is it???
Tom, I don't have any accurate dyno numbers from before/after the T1 to the T2 cam. Too many "dyno" variables changed:
T1 cam, Draglite wheels, stock rear with 3.73s = 455 rwhp and 442 ft-lbs
T2 cam, stock rims/tires, Moser 12-bolt with 4.10s = 455 rwhp and 435 ft-lbs

Re: Update On Nine Ball's Engine...! Where is it???
Here is a picture of the Jesel Street/Strip rocker setup. These are still better than stock rocker arms, we haven't seen any failures with them yet. There is still a mounting bar that goes all the way across, and the pairs are bolted to it.

Re: Update On Nine Ball's Engine...! Where is it???
Just a durability concern Terry, nothing more. This cam is just like Colonel's, it has 0.610" lift and our springs can only handle 0.620" lift, so it should be working the valvetrain pretty hard. I've spilled the bearings on stock rocker arms once before, and am installing these at the recommendation of MTI.
Solid roller would be sweet! But, I can't spend the extra money.....this month
Besides, aren't people curious about how a fully loaded HOG 6-speed will run with Colonel's engine in it?

normal shaft rocker systems have a complete bar that goes across the entire head that is solidly mounted where the guide plates would be
the rockers are then bolted into these bars...
Where as the street/strip version just replace the use of using guideplates and you use a pair of rockers
here is a pic of a shaft system on cendres old z:

Re: Update On Nine Ball's Engine...! Where is it???
Tony.. congrats on the set-up. Did you ever know that your my hero ??
I got 2 questions for ya if you dont mind please:
1. What do you expect to shift at ??
2. Are you going to need a new clutch for this set-up, and if so, which one ??
