Default Comp #1500 Shaft Mounted Rockers

Anybody out there have experience with Comp Cams part # 1500 (or 1501), a shaft mounted rocker system for the LS1, 2, and 6? How good was the experience? Any difficulties in mounting them? Did you have to elongate your pushrod holes? How do these compare weight-wise vs. the stockers, single Comp Pro-Magnums, or Crane Gold Race rockers?

I'm still putting together my head / cam swap for March. Originally, I was thinking of having the stock rockers rebuilt by H.S. (about $260, I think) and was thinking of running the billet steel rocker stands from Lingenfelter (again $260) to help support the rocker stand area of the Patriot CNC'd 243's I've yet to assemble with hollow stems, 918's & Ti Retainers...

Then I got to thinking that for the price ($520+), for a little more, I could go with the Comp 1500's and get a roller tip and stronger valvetrain?

If anybody has experience / input on this idea, I'd appreciate it...

Good Day!

I have them installed in my CTS-V and bought another set for the Vette.

The only way to dial in the valve train is with adjustables.

The oiling system on the 1500 is bitchin.

You have to change the pushrods, and you may have to relieve the pushrod hole in the head for clearance, so the pushrod won't rub.

Did they fit under the stock valve covers, or did you have to use spacers? What length pushrods did you use?

Anybody else?

I had to remove the baffles and all the molding ridges and finally ended up with 1/2" spacers (JEGS) under the valve covers.

Just couldn't Dremel out enough stuff to get them to clear.

Pushrod length is looking like 7.100" (I am still adjusting).

Replaced all the springs (Comp duals) and retainers.

im no expert but I will be going down this path with my build. Solid roller cam and these rockers or the jesels... I’d call comp cams and ask them. They will have all the info as far as where the roller should be on the valve and how to adjust them and torque specs

I guess T&D rockers make them.. strange because the T&D rockers are $1,376 on Cam Motion’s website... the comp ones can be found on Ticks website for 1100ish

I emailed T&D to see what they had to say about their rockers for the LS and if they could hold up to high spring pressure like that of the PAC1209x springs. Open pressure is 510lbs/inch.

This is what T&D replied back with

“The 20042 rocker set is the same material as any of our other rocker arms, we see well over 1000 lbs open pressure with zero issue. For the lift the biggest obstacle you have to deal with is the valve length and the possibility of a custom stand. That will solely depend on valve length. you are correct that our 20042 set is Comp Cams 1500, we just laser their logo on them add a spring oil hole and ship them out.”

so I guess the comp ones have the spring oil port where as the T&D rockers don’t

no problem. I hope that answered some questions.. I was going to run the Jesel Sportsman rockers for my solid roller build but I think I’ll use the comp cams #1500.
