Default MTI Stage 2 heads and cam question

I am getting ready to order my MTI Satge 2 LS6 heads and thier T1 cam. I am also getting an FLP setup with the heads and cam. What kind of power can I expect to see at the tires realisticly? I have been told that this set up with my other mods (see sig) will produce over 400rwhp. Is this true or am I living a pipe dream. I will also be getting a holley intake to port match to the heads. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

No joke, the stuff sure aint cheap thats for sure. But I chose them because of the amount of people running thier gear/customer service/reliability etc. But thats just been my experiance. Please chime in if you have any experiance with MTI!

I think you can expect to get over 400 rwhp no problem. You will also get the peice of mind that you are receiving some of the highest quality parts made for LS-1s from a company that will tirelessly stand behind their work and products. And thats worth every penny.

One of the most common phrases heard at MTI: "I wish I had come here first."

There are other companies that make good stuff, and there is somethign to be said for finding a tuner that is physically near you. If MMS, Cartek, LG, Thunder Racing, or ARE are local, then I might recommend them, but you wont go wrong with MTI no matter where you are.

MTI has been great to me. I bought a cam & valve train kit from them, and I had them handle my tuning. I will most likely go back to them for heads as well.

MTI is a great place to deal with. They won't steer you wrong

My 98 Z28 M6 with MTI stg2 heads and B1 cam made 401. I have 2 cars with MTI, both heads/cam exhaust, intake, and gears. Both experiences were good. Car was done on time, made the power they said it would, and no surprise costs.

Im runnign a bit of MTI's stuff on my car, yeah. They are the ones that put *countless* hours into getting my car running right with the combo it has. Wife wont let me put N2O on the car (for now)... So Im gonna have to go more expensive routes. My bro-in-law (MSFT employee in Redmond with a 99 Z28) and I have done just about everythign on these cars. I will be racing as much ITE and track days at PIR this year as I can. I love the track with its huge run-offs and no walls. Im not too into SIR (or whatever its called now). Too many places to hit something.

Im working on aquiring racing seats, wilwood brake package, and removable Grant steering wheel and hub, and I should be good to run for the year. Car is waiting at LG motorsports right now for the transport up here. They just did the 6-point and Y pipe.

I'll throw up my too-lengthy sig too.

I just want to get nto the mid to low 11's before I start spraying the snot out of the motor. I might end up putting a forged rotating assembly in it to go with a bigger shot. But its a give and take game, move to the forged assy.=more rotational mass off the bottle it wont spool up as fast. Leave the stock internals=quick spool but possibly loose pistons with to big a shot.

I am pretty sure the heads, cam, intake ans FLP's will put me in the low 12 range off the bottle but I am not sure, some people tell me I am smoking crack and others tell me it should do it.

Here is the next big question. Should Iship the car to them and have them do the install or should I just have them ship the parts for me to do the install and just send them the computer for tuning?

I think the idea of shipping it to them is a bit much. It would be at least 2000$ round trip. Im spending 1300 one way for a covered/contained transport.

If you are not doing anything special, have air tools available, and can leave the car down for a few days, there are some great HowTos on the net.
ls1.fbody.com for instance was one I was involved in. If you have any questions, let any of us know. Several on this board have done the whole process ourselves...(several times :-/)

(mine for one ) Definitely nice to see some more LS1'ers around here.

BTW, NataSS Inc, if you're looking for someone local to do the work for you check out Brad's www.bradscustomauto.com in Lake City. They did a tremendous job with my cam install and come highly recommended.

How much did brads charge you for the cam install?

I'm thinking it was around $900 to do the cam and oil pump. Not cheap, but I was very impressed with them - took really good care of me and the car.

I've heard nothing but great stuff about them. A track friend has all his work done there on his C5. Anytime Brads auto comes up or someone needs work done he talks about them like they are the best in the world

They have also worked on one of the few LPE TT C5's.
