I ordered a T1 cam from MTI & ARE stage 1 truck heads from ARE. I am paying nick a little extra to put some extra time in on the porting so that they flow in the 290's.the compression will be around 11.1:2 -11.2:1. I like the way the higher compression pops more like a top fuel car. I am replacing the hotcam,I like the idle but does not pull hard enough in my opinion. The heads & cam should be hear next week sometime so I am biting my nails waiting.I also need to replace the pushrods. I called nick to ask him what size but he must be busy I have not heard back. I was thinking 7.35 size since the heads are milled, what do you think?

I know it should be sweet, I guess I just want it to measure up to my expectations.I want a mean sounding car,be able to beat stock ls1's by car lengths. the only cars that really get into modding here is mostly mustangs,& ricers.don't get me wrong there are some fast fbodies running around but u never run into them accept at the track.the mustang guys are the ones that seem to want speed(I guess because they don't come that way) . I believe it is my duty to put them all in there place;if I get beat once in awhile i can live with it .This is not like TX where if u r not on top of your game u will lose because everyone keeps getting faster & faster.most street cars here only run 14's 13's N/A. some get 12's & 11's N/A.I guess I'm asking should I be able to do this?I think so but not confident until I get some seat time.

My plan is pretty similar to yours. I've got a set of s1 ARE's on the way(just slightly less compression than yours,10.9-11.0) and I'm planning on getting the thunder 224 112 cam. I'm hoping, like you, that it will perform well . I'll be adding headers and an ls6 intake at the same time, so if I puts me over 400rwhp I won't have any idea at first cuz the sotp should be so much more with everything I'm adding. My dyno goal would prolly be about 410rwhp. Dunno on the track, but I'd like to get an 11 w/o hitting the tnt button. Then maybe a 10 with the spray. Then a new motor .

Oh yeah, as far as the pushrods, if the cam base circle is smaller than stock by an amount close to what you had milled, I believe that the stock 7.4 pushrod is what you want. But I would ask nick about it. Find out what the base circle is on the T1 and email/call him.
