Lifter Guide wear...
Guys for ten dollars any time you have the heads off replace the guides. If I had done that the last time I had the cam out it would have saved me from having to remove the heads this time.
Ten dollars for guides verses ninety bucks for headgaskets.
Anyways, I noticed the same thing. 20k miles and 4 cams later my guides are looser than a whor..er..well, they are loose.
Also, when putting those new plastic guides in, DO NOT TIGHTEN THAT BOLT DOWN HARD. You *will* strip the threads out of it at what feels like 15lbft. Very weak threads.

<strong>They were loose at 20K? Damn, that makes me a little leary about putting a cam in without removing the heads. Yeah, I could do the magnet method and risk magnetizing the lifters...I thought I've seen guys on here put cams in at 70k and the lifters "stuck".
