Well if it is a cam only install, I would have to agree with him TR230/224 on a 111LSA is better suited for the job.

The only time the car should act up is when your rolling around at low speeds/low rpms without giving th ecar any gas, say in a parking lot. Thats the only time my car would surge a little bit, but it was nothing major and a quick tap of the gas would stop the surging. If your really concerned about driveability then go with the 230/224. Anything in the 230+/230+ ranging is going to have some minor drivability issues, but thats the sacrific you need to make if you want a cam only setup over 400 rwhp. I honestly dont know what to tell you though other than you have to just make a decision and go with it.

I had the TR230/224 and it was very streetable. Even for a DD. I also did not replace the rockers. They did not tell me that either. It ran fine. And I was very happy with it. I did the job myself and had never done a cam install.

I just took out a cam that is exactly like the g5x3. 234/242. It would not been real good with every day driving. I also put heads on with it. The low end was like stock but it pulled like a train after 4K rpms.

I was actually happier with the 230/224 for street use.

And re use your stock rockers.

I've researched Reverse Split cams a lot, and my findings seem to show great results with stock heads and ls1/ls6 intake manifolds. The problem is, an aftermarket or P&P head with much stronger intake flow seems to prefer a traditional split. Selecting a reverse split now may work against you in the end when you do get your heads on.

Again, it think it is important for you to look at what you want in the end, and build in that direction. If you only make 385 hp cam only, and then 430+ hp when you get your heads on there, you should end up with a very drivable setup that performs well no matter what you ask of it.

If you're dead set on breaking 400 cam only, pony up for the Fast 90 and matching throttle body + underdrive pullies. That intake setup will work well to feed a traditional split, and even better once heads arrive to complete the package.
