Default Medium to high reving all the time....got a question about it...

I recently did a TH400 swap from my T-56....I plan on driving it to the track this weekend and the track is about 100 miles away...I got 3.73's in the back and at crusing speed around 75-80 mph I am at about 3700-4000...everytime I slow down and try to get back up to speed it will go to like 5000 because the stall is pretty big...should I bring an extra quart of oil with me, because I have a feeling that its going to eat some of it...I plan on leaving with around a half tank of gas, you think that will be enough to get me there?? How hard is this on the motor over time?? Currently the motor has 10,500 miles on it... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Thanks,
Bos

You should be fine on gas, and if not there are gas stations the whole way there. I usually leave with a 1/4 tank and buy some gas at the last gas station before the track if it's too low. I'd go about 65mph instead of 80, though. Who cares if Joe's flying car gets there before you?

Sounds I'd expect the normal wear and tear to be about twice as much/fast as before w/T-56 for normal driving.

I will go to the track maybe 5-10 times over the summer, this will not be happening all the time, but how hard is it on the rods, etc to hold it at like 3500 all the time when highway cruising

Besides, opening weekend is too crazy anyway. I think I'm going to wait until the cats come off to go.

Bosley, I would for sure bring an extra quart of oil. I check the oil before I run, do like 2-3 runs, and then on the 45 minute cooldown I check it again. With our pcv system it's not unusual to use 1/2 a quart while racing.

Rpm's are only bad if you beat on it constantly, the temps can get high.

I regularly do 3000-3500 rpms when going US41.

I'd start out with 1/2 a tank personally.
