Your car will barely want to idle after the install with the small stock hole. I had to use a freaking 1/4 bit to get mine perfect.

That cam likes big holes. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> LOL

do it to get your IAC counts down to normal. the pcm opens the IAC a lot further to keep the motor running @ idle if you don't drill the TB (helps idle surging.) so, get your car @ operating temps, check your IAC counts& adjust until they're about 30-35 counts. car will idle much better & less surging.

IAC= Idle Air Control

My 6spd '98 needed NOTHING done for it to idle.

Can't say about the other year manual cars. . .

But the manuals are less likely to need the TB blade drilled than the A4.

After the installation, I would recommend monitoring the IAC counts using Autotap. If they're high then you can enlarge the throttle body hole in 1/64" or 1/32" dia. increments (good idea to do a PCM reset too). Then drive it a bit and see where the IAC's settle. Repeat this procedure until you get an acceptable idle.

I ended up having to enlarge mine to 15/64" (2000SS) and I idle right around 800-825rpm without AC on.

O.K., I am trying to follow this. What does IAC stand for. A scan tool such as autotap can read these numbers?
