Cam gas mileage and driveability TSP 231/237
#21
My red car got almost 25mpg using fifth gear and this cam. It surges a little too much to use sixth below about 80 mph. It would be a bit much for me to daily drive, but not a bad cam at all.

I have had this cam also. It pulls real hard on top, midrange was ok, no low end power at all. This cam is very well liked on this board and alot of people have had it, and some still do, and had alot of success with it. It sounds awesome and there are some good sound clips on ls1sounds.com of this cam.

I had it since Feb 05. love it. my cam is from Comp Cam as well, 231/237 .589/.595 112+4 . I realy have not noticed much gas mileage difference on highway but city driven well my right foot gets alittle heavy at times. all I can say is I love it. all the looks I get and compliments I get from running this cam is greta. surge is there but, I believe the stock gears are the culprit. deffinetly need to run like 3.90 or 4.10's on this. I drive an m6 so thats helps if ur driving an a4 then I would recommend 4.10 . with all this siad here is what I got... 2001 ws6, m6, 231/237 .589/.595 112+4, PP ls6 59cc 2.02I/1.57E flowa @ 302cfm in. dont remember ex, kooks lt, x-pipe true duals dumped, ported TB, mustang dyno'd 418rwhp/389rwtq. on stock rear gears 3.42 and stock clutch ran a best of 12.6 @114 mph. slipping going into 3rd gear. since then I have only replaced clutch/plate and spin tires all thru 1st and 1/2 way into 2nd. have not gone back on track w/ new clutch, I dont want to break gears so when I return from dessert I'm looking into installing 9" w/ 4.10's. you love this cam.
