Another is there is less surface area for heat tranfer out of the chamber...the more heat that stays in the chamber the more power..theoretically.

Polishing also reduces the chances of stress fractures.... not that I have ever heard of anyone cracking a head in two.

It also helps prevent detonation by deburring any hot spots that may be in the cylinder head.

I was told that you dont want it completely smooth. You do want to promote turbulance. Anyone else?

I think you'd benefit from polished chambers by reduceing the localized hot spots. I'd count on the quench area to provide my turbulance to the mixture

What is the gain from this? Thought the factory flashing was important to retain some turbulence or something?

Are most aftermarket head jobs coming with polished combustion chambers?

One reason is that carbon is less likley to stick to it.
