Default Head bolts Vs. Studs

Ive used search and came up with nothing but for sale ads.

My car is head lifting right now and i want to know if the arp bolts will hold or if i need to use the studs instead. The main reason i ask because is know the studs cannot be used or put in if the motor is in the car. Im not apposed to this but what would you guys reccomend?

Thanks in advance

Craig

Use studs, they are way better and you can pull the heads when they are in the car. The best part is you clean the bolt holes once and you never have to do it again, not matter how many times you pull the heads.

Head studs can be put in with the motor in the car.

bolts will work, studs are better. heads go on first, then head studs go on. not the proper way to do it, but it works.

Head studs, then Heads. I don't even think the head studs will go through the head that way. You defenitly do not have the room the put the studs in through the heads if they are in place under the cowl.

your motor was out of the car, when you put the head studs in, then put the heads on right? that's news to me, if you can install head studs first, then put the heads on if the motors already in the car. comparing the longest arp head bolt, to the longest arp stud, the studs are .250 longer, and should be able to install them, tight but able.

I pulled my heads of 10-15 times and never romoved a stud to do so. Studs stay in place...in the block...head slide over the studs.

To me it was so much easier than bolts.

I agree. There's plenty of room to do it in the car

Motor was in the car before we put the heads studs and heads on the car as you can see in the pic engine with no head studs in it.

Same here. Studs in first. It's tight but it works:
