That will get you real close to 400 rwhp AND 400 rwtq.

A wise man.

Another vote for more gear. You have two overdrives, so I'd consider 4.10's the minimum. If you are going to run a slick over 26", you could go as high as 4.56. All of these cams make max power over 6300-6500 rpm, and work with 6800+ shift points.

6800/4.10*26*3.1416/1056 = 128 mph
6800/4.30*27*3.1416/1056 = 127 mph
7000/4.56*28*3.1416/1056 = 127.9 mph

I suggest you get all your bolt-ons in place and start sorting the car out before you select your cam. As long as you don't require the driver mod, you may be suprised how deep in the 12's you can go with stock internals and a well setup car.

I'd say the G5X3 is enough to get the job done and allow you some street manners for when you are not at the track. I also don't see the need for the biggest possible grind based on your original statement.
Ok guys, im pretty new to this whole cam thing. I have a 2001 TA WS6 M6 that im looking to go cam only with for the time being. This car isnt my daily driver, its a weekend car, taht will see occasional strip time.
This doesn't sound like a strip only car, and it sounds like you may be modding more later. If you are going to get heads down the road, you'll make substantially more power once you get your compression and DCR optimised. The X3 has been shown to produce decent driving dynamics and (in some cases) nearly 500rwhp. I've seen over 500, but I'm being a realist here.

Best of luck to you!

TRex has the cam-only record. Draw your own conclusions.

get a custom cam. yes, the TRex has the cam only record but guess what, it was designed to run with open headers, high launch RPM, and 4.56+ gears (I found this out in talking with Geoff@Thunder Racing). If that is your idea of streetable then by all means have at it it will be a dog below 4500RPM compared to some of the more mild grinds, and will want to spin your motor to 7000RPM+ which most stock motors aren't fond of without upgraded rod bolts at least. So your looking at open exhaust, good clutch, higher (numerically) gears, and rod bolts. If you want a decent streetable grind from TR, consider something like the TRak cam instead.

I recommend the Thunder *** kicker cam "TRAK"
I have it in my car, and it pulls harder and makes more torque down low then my Ms3 did. great drivability as well. I drive 45 min to work everyday.

I sold my 231/237 and went with a GM ASA Cam just so I dont have to worry about valve springs. Just another idea.

you beat me to the punch on that one.
the ASA cam makes more torque then a bulldozer and is parts friendly. ive heard its a lil tough to tune on A4 cars at times.

F15 "Ron Jeremy" cam, 236"/239" @ 0.50, .600"/.611" lift on a 111 lsa. This should put you up near 400 rwhp and maybe into the elevens with the supporting mods. This cam should work with the gear you selected to put in. IMO I would go with 4.10's or something to that nature because If you want to go that big with a cam they should pick up what they will leave out on the bottom end, because it will be a dog on take off and pull like crazy on the top.

LOL! usually when somebody beats you, its by a few minutes. The post you referenced was made at least a week prior to you joining the site, and 5 months prior to your response.

I know, I know but what do you expect from a nine-month-old thread, a poll at that...
