Default what could have caused this 1mph loss after cam install?

before the cam install my best run was 8.361 @ 84.947 (1.990). after the new T1 cam went in i took it out to the track and ran 8.246 @ 83.837 (1.797). That's a full 1mph loss in the 1/8th mile. i figured i would have ran a 7.9XX @ 87.XX or something to that effect. what could cause that? it was about 20 degrees warmer out that day but the better 60ft should have made up for that. the car runs fine...maybe too rich though. any thoughts? thanks

I honestly would not jump to any concludtions just yet. Even though you MPH was down your time went up. I dont have the exact science of this down yet, but I do know that it can happen.

Run it again at a cooler temperature. The cooler the air, the more Oxygen (more dense) and that means more Horsepower. Dont sell your new cam short just yet.

Remember, the more power the more difficult it is to get traction. Another lesson I have learned is the clutch and tires. I use to get discouraged when I add bolt-ons because I keep getting slower. Turns out the clutch was wearing, the increased power was harder on it AND the tires.
I replaced the Clutch and tires and I be darned.... A second+ faster.

Just keep that in mind before you get discouraged.

If your running that T1 cam without custom tuning then more than likely your timing is low and or your getting some KR from the bigger valve train. Before tuning my timing was in the 25-26 degree range but after tuning im getting 29-30 degrees along with only up to 1 degree of KR at most if any. My ET and MPH got better after tuning. Try to scan your o2s from part throttle to WOT with autotap and see how lean or rich your running to adjust for it. I ran tad lean with my B1 and stock tuning.
