Default Any meth benefit on n/a engines?

I see that meth injection kits are quite popular on boosted cars. Is there any benefit on n/a cars? For example a cammed bolt on ls1?

Negative. Meth makes less power. You have to run really high compression for it to be a benefit.

Cooling the intake down a bit during combustion would still be a plus though.

Ah, thought he was referring to running methanol instead of gasonline, not meth injection.

I would say yes. Would allow you to run a little more timing when youre using it. Also couldnt hurt during those hot days at the track.

True story....

Yeah....N/A cars run it. Typically high compression, high hp N/A motors.

Stratospheric compressions that need a bit of more timing. I run some with juice to limit detonation without having to go to too cold a plug.

You already got a number of good responses, but I thought I'd add a little more. In general water/methanol injection will cause a motor to lose power...that is until boost / timing is turned up (which is allowed by the use of meth/water injection). I've tried it on 3 different forced induction vehicles and it worked the best on cars to help control detonation at very high boost levels. Water is generally used to lower air inlet temperatures (kind of like an intercooler of sorts) and methanol is generally used for additional (high octane) fuel as it doesn't cool as well as the water. Most people mix the water and methanol as the meth is not very pump friendly. On my s/c tacoma I have tapped into my windshield washer reservoir and use the winter blend of windshield washer fluid since it already contains the alcohol to keep it from freezing. I have done alot or research over the years on this and I feel the best application for it is when adding forced induction to a vehicle not designed for boost. A little interesting background is that I heard that it was used in some aviation engine setups many years ago and also researched to potentially come with the buick grand national...that didn't happen though...I don't remember exactly why.

So to summarize my experience...don't bother with it on your current setup.
