Collapsed Lifter Suspicion...
I know the feeling about taking on/off ARE heads :-/
Mine have been on/off 7 times now. Im on to head studs since the block threads were getting tired, but now Im onto a new block :-/

I am going with kind of a shotgun solution. While I'm in there, I will be changing all of my lifters, and exchanging all of my exhaust gaskets to a softer material/better material as well.
If there are no more delays, I should be able to post the resutls sometime this weekend. If this is the fix then it looks like Limerock.
It is not an exhaust leak. I went over every header gasket with a fine tooth comb. I did find one leak, but it was on the passenger side air tube connection (damn gasket). The ticking is from the drivers side.
It isn't the pushrods. Had everyone of them out and checked for straitness. All of them were strait as an arrow.
The valvetrain is spotless. There are no visible contact points, and all retainers/rockers/lashcaps are normal with no signs of excessive wear. All clearances and loads were good.
I did run into a rotten problem though. Which I have posted about. I have an enormous amount of oil in my intake. This is probably going to delay getting the car back together.
Given all of the findings so far though. It looks like the ticking is from either a lifter or worse depending on what comes up for the oil cause.

Finally solved the ticking. After part delays, taking up a permenant residence at work, and traveling, the car has been fixed.
The ticking turned out to be a collapsed lifter.
I changed a bunch of other stuff during the this whole ordeal to narrow it down.
Crane Lifters (of coarse)
Air Stuff - Gone
New Spark plugs
All exhaust gaskets to a softer material
ARP Studs (nothing to do with ticking, but just for the hell of it)
The oil problem, as noted in another post, was the PCV system. The inline filter mod has been replaced with the industrial air / oil separator mod I will give it some time to see how it works out.
I will say something about the stock head bolts. I spent over 5 hours cleaning my block to prep for the ARP studs, and I just could not get over how damaged my block threads were. I pulled out gobs of aluminum filings. All of this caused by taking the heads on and off all the time.
For anybody who has their heads off often I HIGHLY recommend switching to studs.
I have a car again .... one that works
