Well, its gonna take over 800fwhp to run 8's at a 3000# raceweight so I guess that kinda answers my question...sorta...I guess.

Anyone? Bueller...Bueller

Well Tim is correct in the fact that I've been contemplating it. I spoke to Nick about them yesterday. He has a set of them waiting on me there now. I don't want to stop in the middle of my current setup but we have it planned for the fall. In the meantime he is working with a few different options on the intake manifold. From what he told me yesterday he is working on a cast manifold to rival the sheetmetal intakes at a significantly lower cost. If any of you want to push some money at me within the next few weeks I'd be more than happy to do the testing on my engine

Lanky, my car has been down for over 4 months now, so I've not been to the track. I had no idea Dave's car was down too. What kind of surgery is going on now? I heard that he had the T-tops removed or something, talk about HARDCORE! . I'm mostly sure that my Formula will remain a 95% street-duty car, at least until I can afford the C6 when it arrives and I have a nicer street car to replace the Formula .

Then it will probably get the TH350, get gutted, and live on a trailer

I will say that if folks start going for a C5R record they will have to contend with the LPE C5R Z28 it has already run a very good number.

Very interesting post!

Anybody has any idea if C5R heads mostly improve flow in upper lift (.500+) or is it overall improvement?
Wonder how they would work with a street hyd. cam (I’m sure they’ll be sick with a big lift sold roller )
Also wonder what the TQ curve would look like - do these heads trade the low end TQ towards high end HP (hopefully not)…

Yeah but like you say, you are the 1st to run that "big" 112 lsa cam in a ls1 , That was ground breaking!

The intake I referred to in the post is still in the testing phases and Nick didn't even mention if it was going to be produced or not. Just said that it might be an option down the road. He was out of the office when I called today to check on some other stuff I have up at ARE but I can ask when I talk to him tomorrow.

Before John Stewart passed away I spoke to him on the phone about some engine work they were doing at Xtreme eXotix I think was the name of his engine shop. He claimed they had LS6 heads flowing 360 cfm and GT2 style C5R heads flowing 440 cfm. They were also using a much larger valve on the C5R heads. Once you go to big with the valves though you lose a lot of low end and midrange. It is also possible to do this with a new intake manifold if the port volume and runners aren't correct. This might not be an option for everyone out there but for those of you who plan to make the most power with your engines regardless of streetability I'm sure there is a lot of horswpower out there to be gained. I wouldn't be suprised at all to see a solid cammed engine break well over 650 rwhp with the C5R heads and a custom manifold.

Let's see, If I sell the first born, hock the wifes horses and trailer, put a lean on the house..... I might be able to keep up with you sick bastages, ARGGGG I need to go sniff some NO2 and have another nitro martini. I guess the Tranny, Moser, S2 heads, Cam, Intake I am putting on next week will be a start but really folks how will I ever be able to keep up? The lottery maybe?.

Would this C5R block and C5R heads with custom intake be a streetable set-up like the LS1 super strokers out there? Or would this just be a track car?

Quickin,

The block has no sacrifice of streetability on the street. With the size of the chambers on the GT2 C5R head your compression would be out of the roof. I'm guessing but the chambers is somewhere around 53-55cc I believe. I'm guessing at the chamber size if someone wants to look it up. It also without any porting accepts 2.125/1.625 valves. I think the block is definitely doable but the small chambers on the heads and the intake manifold if not set up properly could make you ras gas only or keep you off the street. Really just depends on the whole buildup that you put together.

Had to fix something I keep saying horsepower instead of streetability. I guess my priorities are mixed up

Hello all, new to the board.

Does anyone know how much a completed set of C5R motorsport heads cost? I mean ready to bolt on with top of the line titanium intake & stainless exhaust valves along with a set of Jesel rockers and lets not forget porting.

Thanks…

with the correct dished piston, your compression can be made doable

****...i knew of a vette with GM raised runner heads with 55cc chambers and had -30cc dished pistons to get low compression and ran 8.40s in a T100 vette

Hey Tony, sorry for the delay in the reply.

The BeaSSt is getting Strange brakes at all 4 corners, a new pin-on hood and a ten point cage. The t-tops are still there and probably always will, although they did toss the idea around.

...and,almost forgot, the motor is getting a bit better

BTW, your idea on the C6 is right in line with mine. I am not sure if I will wait for that long though, may end up with a C5. Either way, it will be a show-winning, street-legal, smog-legal toy that will see the occasional autocross and road-race courses.

I wonder what a set of those setting on top of a big cube, iron blocked, 14lds of boost, 3500lb, A3, car would do???? I think close to 1000 hp could be acheived. What kind of problems would you have with this set up though?? Could it be streetable?(the question should probably be Do you have the ***** to drive it on street tires??)
