I know AFR, TEA, ET, Livernois, ..... what about hand porters as well..... Just a list with your opinions will suffice....
thanks for the contribution!
Looking for Names folks.... not companies or websites! And we are talking GM heads preferably. And not CNC.... hand porters! Post more than one please.

most of the best porters in the country have never, or will never touch an LSX head... Steve Schmitt does some of the most powerful pro stock heads around and he's getting into LSx stuff so i would assume he's probalby got a handle on it. I've been talking to him lately about doing my heads for my new setup.

off topic... but I would trust someone who is familiar with LSX based heads and combinations to do better work on LSX heads then someone that hasnt touched a set. There are plenty TOP LSX porters around that have experience since 1997 or so......so going to some prostock fella sounds like the adventurous path.
Too each his own.

going to a pro stock guy would be the BEST idea possible. if he can make ~1400rwhp NA with just 500 ci and carburators i would trust them to do ANYTHING i need on an lsx motor. if they know what makes a head work it doesn't matter what kind of head it is they can make it work.

i dont think a pro stock guy would be the best way to go he is used to working on 500 ci and max effort setup, and nothing else i have seen some motors built by nascar guys they wouldnt run in the 11s.I think meaux and GTP are up there also.

Casey Schnieder and Greg Good...both Houston porters...both with current or past instructing roles at SAM...both are considered on the A list when it comes to LS1 heads. Trevor Johnson is also badass.

I disagree. I would give my set to a regular dude like Brian Tooley From TEA over the best pro stock porter in the country.
LSX porters specialize in porting LS1 heads. Would you take your camaro to the best Ford tuner in the world? I wouldn't if he wasn't fimilar with LS1's.
I bet if you gave a top pro stock porter a LS1 head that has 0 experience he would over port the head and make it to big.

Let me try,
Paris Pugliese (formerly of TEA and SAM, now at RayMac, TFS heads, LS6 heads, etc.)
Casey Schnieder at Sam (LS6 heads)
Tony Darnell of TEA (5.3 heads)
Brian Self aka "Lump" (never seen an LS1 head from him, other stuff is killer)
Joe Prince (best 241 head I've seen...believe it or not)
Craig Gallant (SAM,GTP, only heard rumors)
I didn't make my own top 5, truth is most of the LS stuff we have was done by Paris or Tony, I will take credit for the digitizing and CNC programming though
I have seen some stuff from some of the other top guys mentioned, it wasn't very good on our bench.
The ABSOLUTE truth in hand porting ANYTHING once your are a "good porter", is LOTS of experience with THE head you are working on, irregardless of how successful you have been with other heads. At TEA each person tends to have a "specailty" and I did mostly Ford heads. So the bottom line is find someone who has the best flow numbers through the entire intake flow curve, and get them to do your heads. The beauty of the CNC is you can work on one port for days, weeks or even months and then the CNC lets you exactly duplicate after that.
