More Dyno Results! New MTI all-bore 393ci
SW's 99 FRC Corvette (the white one) was just completed by MTI yesterday. He tried out their new all-bore 393ci LS6 setup.
Initial results: 483.7 rwhp & 444.2 ft-lbs SAE corrected!!
MTI resleeved aluminum block (4.155" bore)
MTI Stage 3 LS6 heads (I=2.08" E=1.60")
MTI R1 hyraulic cam (232/237 .574/.574 112)
Lunati Forged pistons (11.5:1 CR)
Lunati Billet Rods
Stock LS1 crankshaft (3.62" stroke)
Stock LS6 intake (untouched)
Stock fuel injectors (will be swapped to SVO 30#)
Stock computer tuning! LS1-EDIT to be done soon.
TPIS 1-3/4" longtube headers
offroad X-pipe
Corsa catback
I'll post the dyno graph when I receive it. These MTI all-bores are making more power than some people's 422ci setups! Torque is impressive also

We'll see how close to 500 rwhp it can get once the larger injectors and tuning are done. It was leaning out pretty badly at higher rpm. SW wants the car back immediately though, he wants to go race somewhere. Might be a couple weeks perhaps.
He was happy enough with the initial results to say "send it back to Austin".

Tony, what comes with the all bore short block? If/when I drain the life out of my stock bottom end can I just transplant my GTP S2 heads and comp cam, to the All bore short block? or am I going to have to fork out more $$$ for something else? I love the thought of the 382 with the A4 and 3:42 12bolt, I am not a track junkie but I do love to have the quick ride around town and I am a follower of brother Tim Allen ( More Power)

Resleeved aluminum block
stock crank (rebalanced)
custom billet connecting rods
custom forged pistons
all new bearings
custom head gaskets
Yes, you could just bolt your current heads onto it, but I'd pay someone to open up the chambers and unshroud those valves more. And if GTP used the smaller valves, I'd have the seats removed and larger valves installed. This will require some blending port work in the valve bowls. Might be easier to sell the current heads and order a complete longblock.

That thing is going to be even more wicked with tuning, injectors etc. Plus some LG Motorsports tuned length headers would be killer. That short stroke motor would be hard to beat in the 1/4. I hope SW finds time to run it between the autocrossing. I can't fathom how sweet this motor would be with stage3 LQ9 heads (low compression) and a supercharger. Plus that motor could take more cam easily.

i've always said that is better to have more bore and less stroke than it is to have more stroke and less bore UNLESS your racing class makes you do it

Re: More Dyno Results! New MTI all-bore 393ci
I'm wondering something about the big bore motors. Is it *absolutely necessary* to open the chambers for the larger bore? Will the piston actually contact the head and/or valves if you don't open up the chambers?
I realize I'd be leaving power on the table if I don't but theoretically my heads should support 580HP at the crank. I can't see making much more than that have still being reliable and streetable the way I want it anyway.
