Shavings or "needle bearings"? Big difference. Neither is good to have bouncing around, possibly scarring yer innards.
The stock roller rocker arms have a bad history of coming apart and losing their bearings.
The *only* way to get away from the cheesy stock rockers is to go aftermarket...

Allright, I have posted some stuff on here before about problems that I have been experiencing with my car and now I have some more. Well let me recap first. I have a 2002 Z with 7500 miles it has rattlish knock in the engine when idling and a vibration, these are the problems that I posted on here about before. Yesterday I changed my oil and now I have metal shavings in the oil "looked like bearings to me" I am needing to get ahold of somebody for the kentucky area for GM customer relations. Dealer won't do anything to it until they get the go ahead from GM and the paperwork has been turned for the lemon law but I would rather just have mine fixed if ya know what I mean. Sorry this is a little long but I am needing help here fellas. Thanks MIKE

I have seen many posts with the same problem in the past. Try to do a search on rocker bearings because that is what everybody elses problem was. They all found the needle bearings on the drain plug or in the drain pan.

Mike, you're seeing copper, or...?? Until you get WAY down into the bearing, anything that comes off of it won't be magnetic (lead/copper make up the babbet on most bearings, with a steel backing).
That sounds REAL damn serious to me. Good luck.
