Default Broken spring...need help.

Why would I get misfires on 5 and 7 with only one spring broke on 5? Could the engine run seemingly good w/ the bad spring and then cause additional damage to the valve train which would greatly effect how the car runs? Any help would be welcomed.

I had a similar problem with my autotap... It said I had like 27,000 misfires on #5 but it turned out to be that the intake spring on #1 was broken.. I hadn't cleared my codes and there lies my discrepancy.. Did you clear the codes and make sure your not looking at the history..

The computer tries to guess the cylinder with the misfire. Sometimes it can't properly tell so it shows up on more than 1.

Both readings were taken at the same time, and shows each cylinder with misfires (50-150).

JMX, I like the sounds of that...hope you are right! I just hope it is not a bent valve. That would mean I would have to go ahead and do the head work sooner than expected... while Comp is paying to do the valve repair
Thanks.

I'm guessing it was a Comp 941? That's what broke on mine ans well as 2 others being cracked..

The box they came in indicate XX918 springs. How could you tell the difference? Very interesting point. Thanks!

BeeHive? Smaller top, larger bottom?
918's not 981's, right?

When I broke a few spings last year, the Tech II always showed high misfires on both the cylinder with the dead spring and an adjacent cylinder in the same bank.

Mike did give me an explanation, but I don't recall it and would only risk giving out false information by doing so

They were positively 918 springs and yes it's one of the first cases I have heard of also after installing several sets of 918's on cars. It was installed correctly on his car that still has stock heads. I'm going over here in a little while to survey the damage.

Please keep me informed of this. I just had the same setup installed and I am watching this carefully. I already broke an Isky295 with the G5 and now I thought I was safe. How many miles on the setup and what was the limiter set at A4 or M6?
