What are the differences between a 98-02 LS1 Engine

What are the differences between a 98-02 LS1 Engine Reason; I'm looking to buy an F-body and would like to know which year to get!

Sorry I had to do that.
Actually the 01-02's have the LS6 intake and a few more minor upgrades I believe. I would recommend getting the latest model you can afford.

Re: What are the differences between a 98-02 LS1 Engine Overall it seems the 01-02 cars are the best performing "stock" years, although the 98-00's are certainly no slouches...
If you aren't buying new, just find a car with the features/options/color, etc that you want. The subtle changes between 98-02 are for the most part just that... subtle
The only big mechanical difference really is that the 97-98 LS1 heads used a perimeter bolt pattern, while the 99-up stuff (including the Gen III truck engines) have a centerbolt design and a slightly different method of mounting the coilpacks on the valve covers... That may be something to consider if you think a set of ported/polished heads are something you may do in the future since there is a larger selection in the 99-up variety...

Re: What are the differences between a 98-02 LS1 Engine The 2001-2002 do not have the EGR. Injector sizes 1998=28.6, 1999-2000=26.4, 2001-2002=28.8 . 2002 had the piston rings redesigned to fix the oil consumption problem.
