Default Puffing white smoke? Diagnosis??

Hey guys, my car is puffing some white smoke. It usually happens when I have shifted from 1st to 2nd and sometimes 2nd to 3rd at 3/4 to full throttle. I can also hear a pop coming out of the exhaust when this happens?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful!!

Thanks,
Kyle

Correct me if i'm wrong guys, but doesn't white smoke come from a cracked head or a blown head gasket...I may be wrong, but you should check your coolant level to be sure.

I check my coolant level pretty regularly. If I had a cracked head or blown head gasket wouldn't I more than likely have water in the oil? I'm just trying to get an idea of how to tell what's going on? Thanks for the info, I'll check to see how the coolant level is doing...

Kyle

Mine does that too,Under 75% to WOT the car trails whitish smoke & DUMPS smoke on decel from high RPM's but otherwise doesn't emit anything. The car uses oil when I beat on it but when driving normal is OK.The problem started after the cam/intake swap but was fine before Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

New eveidence:

I remember now that my coolant level has been mysteriously getting low for about the past year now. I have to add about 2-3 quarts of water every month or so. I have also noticed that coolant has been coming from somewhere near the water pump and I also had some coffee-like stuff on my number 7 plug.

This is sounding like a blown head gasket or cracked head even more now!!

i THINK...may be wrong, but i thought white smoke was either a sign of low coolant, or burning water...may be wrong though

After conferring with frends that have been behind my car when I'm hard in it & the smoke is more of a product of bad tune than anything else.It looks similar to a BPU Supra's exhaust under boost.(not quite as black). My oil consumtion still has me worried though, because it didn't use oil before the cam/intake/header swap.

Could this be oil blow-by?

White smoke is coolant and blue smoke is oil.

It looks white to me, but it's hard to tell from inside the car. I was asking is BYE RICE's problem could be oil blow-by?

Wouldn't my car be running like complete crap and overheating if I had I had blown head gasket? I'm noticing nothing out of the ordinary except some smoke occasionally...

The oil consumption appears to be RPM driven. When the car is steady 1800 in 6th gear, the engine doesn't use an appreciable amount of oil.
I never had a problem before mods.I wish I would have changed valve seals when I had the springs off even though thats probably not it.I need to get off of my *** & do a plug read & run the seafoam through it.

Yeah,
Seafoam(or GM Top engine clean)is a can o' stuff that is sold at NAPA.Its used to de-carbon the pistons.Their's a couple of threads(do a search on this BB) about it.Damian was commenting about how his car was using alot of oil.He installed the TSB truck PCV valve,Metco breather,& did a top engine clean. It seems to have fixed his problem.I've done the valve & breather,I just need to do the seafoam.I'm also going to try a different oil./Fingers crossed/
