Need help selecting a cam...
- Want strong low-mid power, rather than all mid-high end
- Decent idle on stock programming (daily driver)
- Longevity, so probably not too high lift.
- Most probably 114 LSA for idle and emissions
I've been thinking about the MTI B1, TR220 and the TR224. Any other suggestions or recommendations?

Idle problems can be solved easily enough by tuning. You want what you want: Get a custom cam. All those cams will develop power a little higher up than you sound like you want.
(Why the stock cats with all that nice breathing going on?)
Howsabout a 216/222 .570/.570 @ 112?
I've talked to a couple of knowledgeable guys who work on C5's all the time, who thought the stock cats (no pre-cats like the '00-'03 has) would flow well enough for my application. Threads on the corvetteforum always seem to indicate high flow cats made little to no difference. Can you point me to some threads that might show where they helped on a C5?
The 216/220 sounds ok, but that .570 lift makes me nervous.. I'm worried about longevity even with upgraded springs, as I may be driving this car 100,000 miles from now. Should I be worried about high lift, shorter duration vs. lower lift, longer duration?
Also, I think from reading the TR 220 would develop enough low-mid power for me, so I probably don't need a custom grind, I'm more tending to go with a tried-and-true cam that many others have used successfully.
Was it the TR220 on a 114 LSA or 112? That cam seems like th ebest choice for me, I've heard very good things about it on stock programming.

Valve spring are a concern with any Cam.I plan on changing my 918's every 10-15 thousand miles for a sense of security.

Ok, thanks guys, from extensive research and word of mouth it looks like I'm doing the TR220 114LSA cam, along with the valvetrain upgrade package. Everyone who has the TR220 114 seems to heartily recommend it!

Ditto that. I just ordered mine...

I live right around the corner from Tony's Corvette Shop in Gaithersburg, so I'm going to take it there, they have an excellent reputation for good work and this is one thing I really don;t want screwed up
btw, I'm now wondering if I'm going to get the 220/112 LSA instead, this cam decision will be the death of me, I'm sure
